Oh the Joys of Extubation :-(

Well for those of you that have not heard, Emma was extubated this morning.  This means that they attempted to take the breathing tube out and see how she would do.  Well, sadly, she did not do well.  She only stayed off the vent a little while before it was decided to have to reintubate (put the breathing tube) back in.  Everything was pointing towards her being able to come off of the ventilator, but it is not her time to.  Please keep her in your prayers.  Pray that she will be able to strengthen her muscles used for breathing, that her lungs will function well, that we can get her back to a place quickly to try again, and that the next time she is extubated, she will do amazing!  Also, continue to pray for her heart as this was hard on it today.  Pray for Sarah and I as well.  It is so tough because we want her to be off the ventilator so so so bad!  Thank you all for the support.  May God bless each and every one of you!

In Him,
Daddy Scott

  1. Well, as you said before, she is doing this all by her own time schedule. The time will come, but we know it is so hard to watch her have to deal with it. She is so precious and has come a long way.We continue to keep Emma and her wonderful family in our prayers. Kendall and Darla

  2. So sorry! I know how important the extubation is and share in your disappointment! Still, we consider ourselves blessed to have Emma still with us - albeit in the hospital - during this Thanksgiving season! "God is not slack concerning His promises," and He is with you three all the way!
    Love,

  3. Oh, I am so sorry to hear that. I know you have been so anxiously looking forward to her being able to be rid of that contraption, albeit a very necessary contraption at this point.

God's timing is perfect and He will hold you close as you wait for the next try. I continue to pray for you all.

I pray that you will have a wonderful Thanksgiving and will truly feel the prayers and blessings that are being sent your way.

  6. When Joni told me, I was by myself here at the house and just had to have a good cry and talk with God. I do not understand, but I do know that He is with you and Emma and knows what she needs. She is getting so chunky and I just love all the pictures! Hope your little family has a wonderful day together tomorrow! Love you all! Darla

  7. Happy Thanksgiving Scott, Sarah, and Emma!
We missed you three today but are so grateful for God's blessings upon all of us this year. We especially give thanks for sweet little Emma today, and though we miss you, we are glad you can both be there with her! What a bundle of blessing she is to all of us!
    Love you three!

  9. I check Emma's sight almost everyday, and she is in my prayers along with the other babies you had mentioned to pray for. She has truly touched my heart, she's so precious. I am believing with you Sarah and Scott for God's healing touch to be upon her. May God bless all of you, and may Emma be a testimony of God's great love. Rose
