To our Loyal Blog Followers,

I am so sorry that we have not updated the blog in so long.  It has been an extremely busy, yet eventful few weeks.  I would write a lengthy, detailed summary about what has gone on, but instead I will hit the highlights in a list.

Emma was doing SOOOO well that she got to move to the 8th floor!  This is the Cardiac floor you go to, to get ready to go home!

Emma is not requiring any oxygen support:

Emma is feeding into her stomach with breast milk!  She is also doing bolus feeding!

She had her first Easter and got to spend it with cousin Coen!  She also got to dye eggs and hunt Easter eggs!

Emma got to come HOME (well, our Dallas home)

First car ride!

I pulled my NG out on my car ride home!

Emma will go back at the end of May for a Cath procedure to evaluate her heart again!  The doctors will then decide what the next step in her plan will be!

PLEASE REMEMBER:  Emma still needs to stay INFECTION FREE, so we will not be getting her out much and request that you do not come if you are sick, have been around sick people, etc.  Also, Scott and I are trying to get used to this new lifestyle, so if we do not return phone calls, messages, etc. please know that we are trying our best!

Prayer Requests:
That Emma will continue to gain weight and grow!
That Emma will be able to stay off of oxygen!
That Emma will stay infection and virus free!
That Emma's Cath will go well and the doctor's will be able to make a good/informed decision for Emma's next step!
That Emma will have a short and uneventful recovery from the Cath!
That Emma will continue to improve with her physical development!
That Scott and I will have the knowledge/patience/strength to take care of Emma!
Please pray for Emma's heart buddies!

God is Good!  All the Time!  God is Good!

Sarah (Emma's Mommy)

  1. Awesome!! Congratulations!

  2. Momma, Poppa, and Baby Stewart (aka Mommy, Daddy, and Emma) are HOME!

This is a step most parents take for granted, but it is a step that we as a family (and all of Emma's Prayer Warriors) can rejoice in!

When Scott texted me that: "We just put the baby to bed," my heart smiled to think that such an otherwise ordinary event was so extraordinary for little Emma and her parents!

Emma is at home (albeit an apartment) in her own crib with just her Mommy and Daddy for company...a lot fewer bright lights overhead, no white coats in sight, and I imagine SMILEs...lots of smiles!

Emma's journey continues as she awaits other procedures and her new heart, but for now, we are SO HAPPY for all three of you as you finally have some actual, alone, real "family time" together!

    WE love you all!
    Hugs from Nana Jana

  3. Praying for you all and your new exciting journey being home :) We are so excited for you and praise God that Emma has gotten to go home, what a great blessing. Also praying for you and all the NG placements that you'll have to do, I remember that so well checking placements and praying that you dropped it right and learning how to listen if you did. Praying that Emma will have a good check up in May. May God continue to bless your family.

So very happy for Miss Emma and for you guys! :) I pray every day for you and your family! I don't comment often but I follow all the time.

  5. this news just made my day!!! I started following your blog through Matt Hammitt's blog and have been reading about sweet Emma since November. I am so happy to see how good she is doing and will be praying for her to stay well!!! My HLHS son, Simon, has to have his arm pinned down when we are not able to see him because he is notorious for pulling out his feeding tube at ANY opportunity he is, they just don't like that thing! He is 11 months and just got his tube place in the intestines and I'm waiting to see how long it takes him to pull it...

  6. This is such AWESOME news!!! It is such a huge step in Emma's recovery. I bet it seemed like this day would never come, that you would get to leave the hospital with your sweet pea!

I am so happy for you all and thank you Lord for answering many prayers and keeping everyone in Emma's life, as well as little Emma, strong and able to make it to this day!!!

Prayers will still be sent and I hope you are able to post many happy "home" pics on your next post.

As you always say, God is good all the time!! All the time God is good!!

    Filled with Joy,

  7. My name is Carla and I got news of your blog from Allison Meck. I continue to pray for Emma and your family...there is truly nothing better than a circle of prayer!!
I had a preemie, so I know the importance of keeping the little ones safe from infection. It was difficult for us to ask people to stay away, as I knew they just wanted to love on him, but keeping him well was our first priority. Good luck and God bless!!

  8. So thankful things have progressed as they have..praying for Emma, you and Scott. Praying for the rest of the journey and what God has in store.

  9. Love the Stewart clan! So excited to see that Emma is doing so well, but then again, I do keep tabs on my little cousin. Haven't seen her yet, but ya know, I would rather her stay infection free.

Thanking the Lord above for all that He has done and will do, for this precious little girl. Love you guys! Hugs across the river. :)

  10. We will continue to pray that all goes well for the Stewart family! "With God all things are possible."

  11. We continue to pray for your sweet Emma. Pictures are absolutely precious. Kendall and Darla

  12. Praise God! Been following your blog for months...heard about it from Bowen's blog! The Lord has us waiting in regards to our heart son, Daniel, who is 3, and has numerous defects, including HLHS. He is a complete miracle and we keep waiting on the Lord. He is 3 years old and never had a surgery...waiting for a doctor willing to see him in the U.S.? (we are missionaries in Mexico). Waiting for God to heal him? Waiting for the Lord to say that it is time for him to go to his real home..heaven? Don't know! But, we sure love Daniel and enjoy him while we wait and we know that we are waiting on the Perfect One! God bless!

  13. Such a "doll." Our prayers continue as she progresses. Love, Kendall and Darla

  14. Sarah, I pray that you have a wonderful day on Sunday, celebrating your very first Mother's Day with your sweet Emma at home.

    Joy/Chandler, OK

  15. I feel pained to see the pipes up in the little ones nose ...the medical support that they are getting will surely help them recover better. All the best for a healthy journey.
