Into the Box We Go.. That is the Box That Makes You Grow

Emma had a wonderful night last night.  I didn't even wake up but once or twice, I don't think!  She rested well and all of her numbers looked great throughout the night!  The doctors were very pleased with her yesterday.  The only problem that we have encountered is eluded by the title.  She has been losing weight, not gaining weight.  Yesterday when they tried to start feeding her through an NG tube, she threw it up.  They want her to gain weight, and so they have started several new things to help her pack some "meat on those bones"!  They have moved her into a box or what they call the Giraffe Omnicell.  It is a bed that helps keep noise and temperature from being a problem with her gaining weight.  She is also getting albumin, which will help her overall process of gaining weight.  They are going to start feeding her milk through her NG tube as well today.  All of these things are being done to try to help her start "filling out" at a quicker rate.

They just moved her into her Giraffe Omnicell, and she seems to be tolerating it very well.  The whole process of moving her from one bed to another was an amazing endeavor in itself.  They had about 4 people that chipped in to help.  One held her, one gave her breaths, one held all the IV lines, and one pulled out the old bed and put in the new bed.  It was quite eventful!  She just looked around at all of them as they did it!

Specific prayer requests:
1)  Pray that she starts to gain weight with all of these changes.
2)  Pray for her heart, that it continues to be arrhythmia free and functions well.
3)  Pray that her chest tube quits draining so much and that it can come out soon.
4)  Pray for her right lung, that it continues to remain inflated and that both of her lungs remain open, clear, and function properly.
5)  Pray for the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, nurse practitioners, fellows, etc.  that all do amazing things for Emma.
6)  Please continue to pray that all of her numbers continue to look great!  That includes saturations, labs, weight, growth, heart rate, blood pressure, LAP, temperature, etc.

God is truly amazing!  He is constantly reminding me each day of His presence and work in her life!  God is good, all the time!  All the time, God is good!

Grow Emma Grow!!!  :-)

Daddy Scott :-)

  1. Scott and Sarah, I'm trying to keep a record of all the places where people are praying for Emma. We have several states, an "island," two spots in Asia, Mexico, and Australia. But I am really trying to record the states too; so if anyone wants to include a US state in their daily posts, that would be great! It helps so much to know that you all are praying for Emma to grow ... to grow in weight, to grow up here with all of us, and to grow in God's tender mercies. A big thank you for the prayers. Little Emma, we all love you so much, and pray around the world "without ceasing" for you; keep fighting, little Princess. May God surround you 3 with His amazing love!
    Nana Jana

  2. Truly amazing that they can do all these things for Emma to help her. We continue to pray for her and all of you. Love, Kendall and Darla

  3. What a beautiful family! Praises and Thanks to God for the progress Emma is making. Our God is truly an awesome God! How comforting to know that the God who delivered Daniel from the lion's den is watching over Miss Emma! May the Lord wrap you in His arms like a mother hen gathers her chicks beneath her wings!

  4. Thank you Scott for the update. We continue to uplift precious Emma up daily in our prayers. And you and Sarah daily also. We praise GOD for the many prayers He has already answered and for those He will be answering daily.
It is amazing how many people are praying for our precious Emma. I went to get my flu shot at the county health dept. today and the nurse that gave me my injection said "Are you kin to the baby Emma that we all are praying for?" Praise God for the amazing prayer chain that has been formed on behalf of our precious neice.

    Love, Great Aunt Debbie

  5. Good morning Stewart family! Hope all had a good night's rest and ready for a blessed day! I just wanted you to know that we are continually asked about Emma--from college kids at Harding to four year olds at Francis and everywhere in between! Makes my soul glad to know our Lord is hearing so many supplications for Emma! I am so proud of you for the example of faith you are being to people everywhere in letting them know that it is God who sustains you and who holds Emma in His hands! While reading in Psalms this morning, I came across this verse and thought of you, so I had to share! Know you three are loved more than my words could ever convey! If you need anything, let me know.

"How blessed is the man who has made the Lord his trust. . .Many, O Lord our God, are the wonders which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us. There is none to compare to You! If we would declare and speak of them all, they would be too numerous to count!" Psalms 40:4-5

    In His love,

  6. I can't help but to think about how amazing modern medicine (and medical devices) are. Of course, God is even more amazing and modern medicine wouldn't be anywhere near where it is without God's intervention. Continually praying for you all and thankful for all the progress Emma is making. She is sooo blessed with a wonderful parents and family (biological and Christian). Even more, we are sooo blessed to have her as an inspiration to us all and as an example of how powerful God is. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Your continued faith and strength has set a great example to us all.

  7. Prayers continue for your sweet baby pumpkin!!!
