Rest and Recovery

Emma officially arrived back in her room at 3:25pm.  It took the doctors and nurses about one hour to get her situated and hooked up to all of the monitors again.  Emma is doing good.  Her stats are holding steady and she is resting (with the help of many meds).  The doctors and nurses have told us to be prepared for the next several hours (really about 12 to 24 hours).  They tell us that cardiac babies tend to realize that something is different about their bodies around the 8 to 12 hour mark.  This is when they can act up.  We are praying that Emma does not have an episode, but the doctors and nurses are trying to prepare us just in case.  Her glucose is running a little high, so they are going to be checking it frequently; however, they just told me that it was coming down on its own which is good.  They are continuing to monitor all of her levels and stats.  The nurse will be super busy tonight checking on everything.

Specific Prayer Requests:

1.Pray that Emma has a restful and uneventful evening.

2. Pray that Emma is not a typical cardiac patient that has a downturn.

3. Pray that Emma will stabilize with all of her levels so they can start weaning her off of her meds sometime tomorrow.

4. Pray for the doctors and nurses that will be caring for her this evening that they will have the knowledge and wisdom to make the right decisions for her.

5. Pray that Scott and I will be able to be strong for Emma and get some rest this evening.

6.  Give God the glory and adoration for everything he has done for Emma over the past week!

We cannot thank you enough for your support and prayers.  All of the comments today were very uplifting.

Sarah (Emma’s Mommy)

All snuggled in and resting after our big day!

  4. Dear Scott and Sarah~
We've kept our church family in Missouri updated as your family's journey continues. We know many people are praying for you all as is seen in God's answers to them. Emma was even used as part of a lesson and invitation one night! Keep the faith, God is near your little angel every second :) Our prayers continue daily.

  7. Dear Scott & Sarah, You have been so close to my every thought throughout this day. I could hardly work or do anything for thinking of you and saying quick prayers to God on Emma's behalf. God is indeed watching over her and keeping her in the palm of his almighty hand! I am so thankful that she is doing well and that your strength and faith is evident. Please keep looking to our Lord for your guidance and thanksgiving for all of these events. God is being glorified by you and your attitudes and I know you are being a great example for so many. Emma is truly blessed to have been given to such loving and faithful children of God. We love you and are posting thoughts of you frequently so that our other facebook friends will be given the opportunity to share in your joys and bring your needs before God in prayer. We love you!

  8. Dear Scott & Sarah...
We have you and Baby Emma in our prayers and have shared your story and asked for the prayers of family & friends. Your faith & strength is such a testament in itself, and Emma is very blesed to have been brought into this world by a young couple such as you! I pray that Emma's heart is filled with the love that many have for her and she continues to be strong! If it helps to know others love you and continue to pray for you daily, they do!

  9. I found your blog through Shameika Hanna's facebook. My twelve-week-old daughter Mary also has a congenital heart defect (the most common, ventricular septal defect) that will most likely require surgery.

I prayed for your daughter this morning and will continue to pray for you all.
